Boats in Lyme Regis were blessed over the weekend with over 100 people gathering to take part in the annual ceremony.
The annual blessing of the boats service held Sunday, May 14 at Lyme Regis lifeboat station was voted a success with some 150 forming a congregation on the harbour slipway.
Reverend Chris Martin led the service with support from town crier Alan Vian representing the Baptist Church.
The fine weather helped play a part in an enjoyable open-air service.
Organiser Ian Marshall said: “We were delighted to see so many local groups playing a part in the service.”
As usual, wreaths were laid at sea by the lifeboat crew, honouring those who have lost their lives at sea. The service also acknowledged those who work at sea and those who enjoy the waters around Lyme Regis.
Members of the local gig raised their oars as the wreaths were laid at sea.
The service featured more local groups than ever before with Royal British Legion, coastguards, the sailing club, the Boat Building Academy, the gig club, Blue Tits swimmers, the White Knights Kayak Club, and the Lyme Regis Water Polo Club all taking part.
