BOURNEMOUTH ELECTRIC 3

BEAMINSTER 0

BEAMINSTER’S long trip to Bournemouth Electric left them frazzled after a 3-0 defeat in the Dorset Senior League.

With five players missing from the previous week, the Rainbows travelled with a squad of 14 that included manager Neil Holt.

Beaminster started brightly against a Bournemouth team that could finish second in the league, looking to hit the opposition on the counter attack.

The game plan was working well when Beaminster had a few good chances in the opening half an hour, the best one falling to Noah House who was unlucky not to break the deadlock.

Beaminster battled out a superb first half, keeping the scoreline goalless thanks to a tenacious midfield and great defending.

Beaminster started the second half well but lack of fitness was starting to show in places.

Bournemouth did eventually open the scoring when a great bit of skill down the left found the ball drilled across the box for Will Stone to get the decisive touch.

Bournemouth now had confidence and started to use their fitness to their advantage and scored another quick couple of goals through Jamie Morgan and Nick Finch to kill the game off at 3-0.

Beaminster were by no means going to sit back and settle for this and still continued to create chances through House and Mike Calverley but could not find the finishing touch.

Holt said: “We came with a gameplan and the players executed it down to a tee.

“I’d like to thank all players that made themselves available and gave 100 per cent.

“I could not have asked any more from them. I’ve now a real headache to select a squad to face Upwey next week.”

Holt’s men make the trip to Redlands against Upwey & Broadwey on Saturday (3pm).
