BRIDPORT Under-14 girls were the stars of the show during a feast of junior rugby at the Brewery Ground.
Before their clash with Chard began, Mayor Ian Bark blew the whistle in front of a big crowd.
Bridport, playing their first-ever fixture, began to concede territory to the Somerset side, who were held up by the Daggers’ excellent tackling.
However, Chard eventually got the better of the Dorset team with a 34-10 scoreline.
Once the Bridport girls learn to hold position and get the ball out wide, the speed of their two try-scorers bodes well for the future.

Elsewhere, the boys’ Under-14 Plate final took place as Marlborough clinched a 48-12 result against Bridport, a score that did not reflect the game.
Tries from unforced errors gave Marlborough a head start, while the discipline and fitness of many of their boys who train every day began to show.
There was also silverware on the line as Bridport Under-12 boys contested a round-robin cup final comprised of the best teams in Dorset and Wiltshire.
Though scoring the most tries, players absent through injury meant narrow 10-5 losses for Bridport against teams they had beaten in the season.
However, a great performance, before injuries, saw them overturn a strong North Dorset team 3-0 on tries.
At Twickenham, the Bridport Under-10 boys had been invited to represent their affiliated club, Bath, in the Big Summer Kick-off.
Bridport had a field day, holding their own against Farnham, Battersea, and Teddington.
Bridport appreciated The Kaiser Chiefs, whilst their coaches and parents were happier on the fairground rides!
The afternoon’s big Premiership game between Harlequins and Bath was preceded by the Bridport boys parading round the Hallowed ground, with the satisfaction of seeing Bath eventually overhauling Harlequins 45-35.
A day the boys will never forget and what a way for them to finish their season.
Lastly, Bridport Under-11s and Under-13s have still a cup final to play before May 4.
