BRIDPORT 5
BRIDPORT equalled their biggest win of the season with a 5-1 thrashing of Holsworthy in the South West Peninsula League Premier East.
Bridport previously beat Plymouth Marjon by the same scoreline.
Chris Herbst’s men, who now cannot finish lower than 13th, stormed into a 4-0 lead by 30 minutes and never looked back.
Brad Rowe got the Bees on their way in the sixth minute, sweeping in from James Cox’s left-wing cross.
Kieren Daniels added the second when he collected Sam Handyside’s pass in a central position in the box before tucking home into the corner.

Skipper Luke King made it 3-0 with a header at the front post, nodding across goal from Riley Weedon’s inviting corner.
Sol Ayunga then sent the Bees into dreamland by reacting quickest to a rebound for 4-0.
King hit the post with a header and Bridport wasted several other chances to extend their lead before the break.
Holsworthy improved in the second half and grabbed a consolation goal on 77 minutes when Kieran Langman beat Jordon Scadding in the Bridport goal.
However, Bridport re-established their four-goal cushion when the red-hot Weedon bagged his fifth goal in six games, taking a touch to beat his man and slam into the far corner.
Post-match, Herbst said: “It goes back to what I’ve been saying about putting our chances to bed early doors.
“We actually did that and the first 20 minutes we were all over them. They couldn’t get a touch.
“Our midfield three of Jack (Wright), Sam and Riley were owning the game. We defended really well and created so many chances. It was lovely to go in 4-0 up.
“It’s nice to get the goals shared around so we’re not relying on one person. It could’ve been more but I’m not arguing with 5-1, I’d take that all day.”
Bridport travel to Okehampton Argyle on Saturday (3pm) for their final match of the 2022/23 season.
Bees: Jo Scadding, Daniels (Elliott 69), Cox (Childs 47), King, Baker, Handyside, Mansley, Weedon, Wright, Ayunga, Rowe.
