BRIDPORT Primary took the glory as four local schools met at Colfox to contest the recently established Stuart Broom Shield futsal tournament.
Bridport and Beaminster schools had qualified to take part in the competition, with futsal being a smaller version of football with the emphasis on close control and skills.
Bridport Primary, St Catherine's, Sticklands plus Parrett and Axe all fielded ten Year 4 players with six on the pitch at any one time.
Teams played each other in a round robin format to start with. There were some excellent skills on display as well as great teamwork, enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

Bridport Primary and St Catherine's made it through to the final and, after a very close start, Bridport Primary opened the scoring first before going on to win the game 3-1.
This was a deserved victory in the end for a team whose name will be the first to be engraved on the shield.
The shield was set up in memory of local sports journalist Stuart Broom who sadly died recently after a short illness.
Broom was a passionate supporter of local football and a familiar face amongst many in the local sporting community.
In recent years he had become particularly involved in youth football and had watched this competition on numerous occasions, always impressed by the enthusiasm and skill of the participants.
The shield will now be awarded annually in memory of him.
