BRIDPORT 1
BRIXHAM 2
BRIDPORT were beaten 2-1 by an 87th-minute goal as Brixham continued their increasingly strong push towards the South West Peninsula League Premier East title.
Bridport remain 11th after the defeat but Brixham are now five points behind leaders Crediton with a whopping five games in hand.
Chris Herbst’s men will have the chance for revenge on Saturday in the return fixture, but the Bees will rue their failure to cling on for a point at St Mary’s Field.
They had to get themselves back on level terms after Scott Robinson blasted the opener in the tenth minute, Bridport twice unable to clear beforehand.

In-form Riley Weedon then dragged the Bees back into the game, first seeing a header well saved by Brixham keeper Grant Fisher.
He then thumped home from six yards for 1-1 after savvy work from Sol Ayunga, who got to the byline and crossed for the Bees’ midfielder having beaten his man.
After the break, Brixham’s Sean Adderley landed a looping header on top of Jordon Scadding’s bar and the Bees’ keeper had to be alert to keep Ben Hopkins out on 69 minutes.
With the clock ticking down, Fred Parsons nodded over on 80 minutes but the Fishermen reeled in all three points some seven minutes later.
Bridport unsuccessfully appealed for handball as Robinson ran into space and blasted at Scadding, the unlucky stopper powerless to prevent the Brixham maestro from netting the rebound.
