A hair salon new to town has made waves by winning the Bridport News Hairdresser of the Year title.
Hair Twenty Two at 164 South Street opened up its doors in October 2022.
Getting the business up and running was a real family affair, the salon's Rebecca Gumbrill said.
"Without my family I think I would still be painting the salon now! They were so great in helping get the salon together and ready for opening. They did the hard part of putting it altogether. I just made it look pretty," she said.
Rebecca also achieved much help and support from her fiance in making her salon dream become a reality.
She said: "I also really wouldn’t be able to do it without the support of my fiancé.
"He is definitely the one to keeping me going, to tell me I can when I think I can’t. When opening your own business, you really do need those people as it really is the scariest yet exciting times in your life."
The creation of Hair Twenty Two was partly borne out of creating a haven for clients after 'a tough few years for everyone,' Rebecca said.
"For me personally I felt I needed a new challenge, a new passion in my career. When the opportunity came up to open my own salon It felt almost a now or never moment. And too good of opportunity to miss.
"It’s been a tough few years for everyone and with the daily stresses of life I wanted to create a place that’s more than just a haircut but a bit of 'you' time for my clients to unwind, relax and feel good about themselves
"So, the team is Robyn and I, and it’s great. It’s so much fun and always good energy.
"We both share the same passion for hairdressing. For both of us we love to keep expanding our hair knowledge and it great to bounce off each other. I want to keep growing the team at the salon. I want a team of passionate, positive stylists that love their work."
Rebecca added that she wished to thank everyone who voted for Hair Twenty Two.
She said: "It means the world to us that our clients keep on supporting us.
"Your clients become more than just clients, you get to know each other on a personal level.
"So, to have them to keep on following and supporting us just makes us so happy and grateful."
