Bridport’s Inner Wheel club is celebrating a soup-erb fundraiser for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
The organisation held a ‘soups and puds’ evening earlier this month at Burton Bradstock Village Hall with the event supported by a tombola and a hearty turn-out.
Soups on offer included butternut squash, pea and ham, and parsnip and turnip, whilst there was a plentiful supply of puddings including cakes and pies.
More than £800 was raised on the night with funds going towards the organisation’s nominated charity - DSAA.
Jennie Conway from the club said: “People were coming and going all the time: it was really busy and an incredibly happy occasion. It’s something we’ve talked about doing again - lots of people said they hoped we’d do it again - but I think we may well have to come back to doing. It seemed to go down very well.
“We made in excess of £800 and we are delighted with that. We are hoping to get someone from the air ambulance to come down to our partner's evening so we can present them with a cheque.”
In the same week, the charity also raised £200 for Marie Curie after taking collections at Morrisons in Bridport.
This means the charity has raised more than £1,000 in total for charities in one week.
Mrs Conway added: “We are very proud of raising over one thousand pounds in a week and we are very pleased with the generosity of the people of Bridport.”
