An arts society has given a £250 cash boost to a Bridport theatre.
Arts Society West Dorset chairman Ian Johnson was delighted to present Niki McCretton, of the Lyric Theatre in Bridport with a community grant for £250 just before the society's regular meeting.
The Lyric works with artists who create theatre; which may be collaborative and innovative, puppetry, physical theatre, visual performance, circus and innovative children’s theatre.
Since opening it has been able to provide research and development space for artists, premieres of new work, visiting international companies, showings of work in progress, mentoring and rehearsal space.
The Lyric Theatre is a non-funded, not-for-profit Community Interest Company.
The theatre's popular Puppet Club is also making its return. The new course starts on Tuesday, April 18. It is a five week course for all ages and abilities, from ages 6 to 106.
The Arts Society West Dorset offers a variety of lectures throughout the year by national and international experts in their field.
The next lecture about Post-War New Towns by Matthew Denney is on Thursday, April 20 at the Bridport Town Hall, 2pm for 2.30pm. Visitors are welcome.
