Those of us who live in west Dorset delighted in the fact that we could spot familiar sights on our TV screens when Broadchurch was aired - and come the summer of 2013, West Bay was abuzz with tourists flocking to see the locations used in Broadchurch.
Among them was Ellipse Cafe, which has since had a change of name to the Windy Corner Cafe.
Broadchurch’s Wessex Police Station, where detectives Hardy and Miller worked, was actually one of two sets of sea-view flats and apartments in West Bay.
The penthouse at the very top of The Folly was once owned by Pauline Quirke, who played Susan Wright in the show.
And of course West Bay's distinctive sandstone cliffs played a massive part in the show - the foot of the cliffs was where Danny's body was first found.
The newsagent owned and run by murder suspect Jack Marshall was West Bay’s Harbour News.
The little blue cabin that was DCI’s Hardy’s home in Broadchurch went on the market for £275,000 as the so-called 'Broadchurch effect' kicked in.
Freshwater Beach Holiday Park was home to the slightly menacing Susan Wright in Broadchurch, played by Pauline Quirke while Briar Hut in Eype, just a few miles outside of West Bay, was the setting for the murder of Danny Latimer in Broadchurch.
Broadchurch continued for another two series with the second series focused on the continuing fallout of the murder of Danny Latimer and the third series following the rape of a local woman.
All three series can be watched on streaming service ITVX.
