A CRASH on a mini roundabout caused long tailbacks through a west Dorset town this morning.

A two car crash had been reported on the junction of Hogshill Street and Tunnel Road in Beaminster at 8.15am with motorists experiencing delays as a result.

One commuter said the crash was “causing chaos” and reported long tailbacks along the main road. 

Crews from the police and fire service attended the incident with no-one trapped in the vehicles. 

Dorset Council was notified of the incident due to the amount of debris on the road and emergency services departed the scene shortly after 9am.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "A fire crew from Bridport responded to the scene of a road traffic collision between two cars on the roundabout at the junction of Hogshill Street and Tunnel Road, in Beaminster this morning.

"No persons were trapped but firefighters made the scene safe and checked that the vehicles were also safe. Police also attended."

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We received a report at 8.20am of a two vehicle collision at the junction of Hogshill Street and Tunnel Road in Beaminster.

"Officers attended, along with the fire service. There were no reports of any injuries.

"The local authority was notified due to debris on the road and officers left the scene shortly after 9am."
