A SPECIAL performance is coming to a west Dorset pub next month.
Join Brenda Read-Brown at the Royal Oak in Drimpton at 6.30pm on Sunday, March 12 for ‘But I Haven’t Finished Yet’, a riotous celebration of growing older in a brand-new show to delight and entertain audiences, however advanced in life they may be!
In her fantasies, poet Brenda is an imprisoned pensioner who rescues fellow passengers from crashed aeroplanes.
In reality she is a bit of a hoarder who likes Greek islands.
Brenda has performed her poetry on BBC Radio 4, and in Texas, Denmark, the House of Lords plus various festivals. She was also Gloucestershire Poet Laureate from 2012-19 and is a prize-winning playwright.
The performance comes courtesy of touring arts organisation Artsreach as part of a series of Inn Crowd performances in rural Dorset pubs.
Inn Crowd works with some of the UK’s top spoken word and live literature artists and performers to provide rural pubs with professional, high-quality and exciting live entertainment, in turn helping publicans to attract new customers, widen the experience for their regulars, and reinforces the pub as a central, vibrant part of community life.
