A cat which went missing 18 months ago has been reunited with its owners in Surrey after being found in Bridport - more than 40 miles away from where she disappeared.
Lola went missing in June 2021 after her owners were travelling to Cornwall from their home in Kingston-Upon-Thames.
The family could not book Lola into a cattery near their home and had to book her into a cattery in Cornwall.
During their trip down they stopped in St Leonards, near Bournemouth, and let Lola out for a toilet break.
Lola escaped and the family were not able to find her.
The heartbroken family were forced to go ahead to Cornwall and continue their holiday believing they may never see their beloved pet again.
Incredibly, after more than 18 months, on Tuesday, January 24, Lola was bought into Haydon Vets by Jodie Lee, who lives in Loders near Bridport.
Jodie had seen Lola around the Loders area looking very thin and had initially not approached or fed her in the hope that she may return home.
After a few weeks, Jodie became concerned and took Lola to see if she had been scanned.
Veterinary nurse Emma Palmer checked over Lola and found a phone number on her collar.
Upon calling the cat's owners, they were shocked to hear that an unlikely reunion was on the cards.
Emma said: "I spoke to Lola's owner and he said he had been thinking about her that morning as they were about to remove the cat flap in their home, they were never going to have another cat after losing Lola.
"It is quite common for cats to become lost and it is important for families to get closure even if the worst happens.
"But what an amazing outcome, she is still very young at just three-years-old and she is a much-loved member of the family who they thought they'd never see again.
"We gave Lola a vet check and there was nothing wrong with her, she was healthy, we don't know where she has been for all that time but it would be amazing to know what she has been up to and how she managed to get from St Leonards to Loders."
Lola's owners Mr and Mrs Cameron made the journey from Kingston Upon Thames to Bridport on Tuesday to finally reunite with their pet.
They took her back to their daughter Grace who owns Lola.
Grace gave an update to Haydon vets which said: "She has settled back in very well. She has been constantly eating with her favourite treat being watered-down cat milk. Mr Cameron stayed up with her until 1 am and then Grace had her sat on her lap for 4 hours while she worked this morning."
