BRIDPORT are understood to have secured Fred Parsons’ services until the end of the season.

Parsons, dual registered with Lyme Regis, has been struggling with a mystery virus and has not played for a month.

Bridport boss Chris Herbst has been trying to lure the attacking midfielder during his tenure and it appears he has finally got his man.

Parsons had already played once for Bridport this season, scoring twice within 11 minutes of coming off the bench as the Bees drew 2-2 with Elburton Villa.

Speaking to the Bridport & Lyme Regis News, he said: “We’ve been trying to get Fred, he should be playing in this league and possibly could play higher.

“It’s a massive coup for us. He’s got plenty of goals from midfield and he attacks and defends, he’s very good.”

However, Lyme Regis boss Julien Simier admitted losing Parsons would be a big blow to the Seasiders.

“We’ve just lost Fred, he’s decided to go and play for Bridport,” Simier confirmed.

“That’s a big, big loss for us. I’m a bit sad about how it went.

“As long as he goes there to push himself and play a higher standard, we wish him all the best.

“He is dual registered so he could come back to us, but from what I understand he wants to try it until the end of the season.

“It’s going to unbalance our midfield massively, but it is what it is. We’re going to have to stand up and fight.

“We’re going to have to find a way to deal with no Freddy P in the middle.”
