Seniors at a school in Bridport have celebrated their achievements over the past year.
Students in Years 11, 12 and 13 at Sir John Colfox Academy have been presented with awards marking their achievements over the year by Bridport mayor Cllr Ian Bark in front of their friends and families.
Headteacher Adam Shelley said: “Congratulations to all students who achieved an award. It was great to be able to celebrate excellence during the awards ceremony and wonderful to invite families into the school again to share students’ achievements.”
Student achievement is celebrated in individual subjects, with additional awards given for specific achievements.
These included the Humphrey Dibdin Award for Contribution to the School and Community, which was presented to Charlie Wheeler, and the award for Contribution to the School and Community, which was won by Stanley Bowden.
The award for Outstanding Academic Achievement was presented to Sapphire Pearse and Award for Outstanding Effort was won by Lucy Rainey.
The Best Overall Performance at GCSE was won by Bailey Prowse and the Headteacher’s Award for Progress was given to Helen Webb.
The Award for Best Overall Performance in Year 12 was won by Toby Pitfield and the Governors’ Award for Progress in the Sixth Form was given to Georgina Hawkins. Eddie Rose won the Award for Contribution to the School and Community.
Awards also went to Abigail Rees for Best Overall Performance, Ellie Walker for Best Overall Progress and Mert Isiktas for the Award for Vocational Education. The ceremony took place just before the Christmas holidays.
Mr Shelley added: “Well done to everyone who received an award. Thank you to the mayor, Cllr Bark, for joining us and thanks to everyone who sponsored an award.
“It is brilliant to have such strong community support in Bridport. Our sponsors included Carpet World, Creeds Design and Print, Groves Nursery, Palmers Brewery, Stags Estate Agency, Symondsbury Estate, AJ Wakely and Sons, Jane Dibdin and Yeovil College.”
