BEAMINSTER School hosted the first Area Primary Crosscountry event of the academic year, with over 150 students from Bridport and Beaminster primary schools involved in a catalogue of great races.
Honours were well spread between the schools, with no single establishment dominating over the others.
The weather was cold but dry following the recent rain, so the ground was heavy underfoot in places but the Beaminster Year 7 sports leaders did a great job supporting the event and guiding the competitors around the course.
The first race involved Year 3 and 4 girls and was won by Burton Bradstock Year 4 pupil Elsie Darby who took the race on from the start and never lost her lead.

The Year 3 and 4 boys’ race was much tighter and the lead changed place many times.
Parrett and Axe Year 3 pupil Theo David took the lead with 100m to go and held on with a strong finish to cross the line in first place. Parrett and Axe won the A and B team trophies.
In Year 5 and 6, just a few meters separated the front three runners with St Mary's pupil Elizabeth Foote taking the victory.
St Mary’s won the A team trophy with Parrett and Axe picking up the B team award.
The final race saw previous winner Keiran Dajlani hit the front and never look back to lead his St Catherine’s team to victory, securing the B team award too.
All the individual winners had their names printed on a commemorative shield.
Beaminster School headteacher Keith Hales presented the winning trophies and individual medals, offering congratulations to all the schools and students who took part.
