Tonight's tide is forecast to be higher than normal and high water is between 8pm and 9pm.
West Bay harbour and the tidal stretch of the River Brit have been issued with alert, as has the west Dorset coast.
People in Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Seatown, West Bay, Bothenhampton, Burton Freshwater, Burton Bradstock, Cogdean Beach, Chesil Beach, West Fleet, East Fleet and Chiswell are being warned to prepare for flooding.
The public is being urged to be careful along beaches, promenades and coastal footpaths and roads.
