This glorious collection of photos shows Bridport in bygone days.
The somewhat eclectic array of images shows the town as it used to be - a largely traffic-free West Street instead thronging with horses and carriages and pedestrians with cloth caps or suits and bowler hats.
Two images give us a glimpse into the past at Moores biscuits in Morcombelake, makers of the famous Dorset Knob biscuit.
In 2020 Moores closed its iconic Morcombelake store and moved the bulk of its services online.
Most of its manufacturing operations went to a second location on St Andrew's Road in Bridport. Its Morcombelake shop had been operating since 1880, serving a wide range of sweet biscuits, bread, cakes, granola and the famous 'Dorset Knob'.
Other old pictures show a sad 'end of the line' photo of the last train from Bridport arriving at Maiden Newton at 21.02 on May 3, 1975. The last train had a wreath of carnations between its buffers and as the crowds disperse it was left on a direction sign at the station.
We also have a picture of the Bull Hotel in Bridport, local character Charlie Lewis, a folk singer, and an image of the Bull Hotel with horse and carriage outside.
Many thanks to Carole Dorran of the Facebook group Bygone Dorset for sharing these images.
