A changing space for people with disabilities has been approved alongside existing loos off the Station Yard car park in West Bay.
Bridport Town Council and Dorset Council had asked for planning permission for the new facility on former railway land to the east of the West Bay Road car park.
It is part of the Changing Places campaign which seeks to improve accessible toilet facilities.
On Thursday the Dorset Council area planning committee welcomed the changes, unanimously approving the proposals which only came before the meeting because the site is owned by the authority.
The new loo will be able to be accessed from a vehicle parked close by or on foot and will be contained in a 5.8m by 3m extension to the existing block. The changes include six solar panels, enough to light the room and power a hoist.
The designers say the space should be large enough for a disabled person to have support from one or two carers, if needed.
The existing block has one disabled wc but with not enough room for an additional person to provide support.
