BRIDPORT ran in no fewer than 16 tries in a dominant 102-0 victory over Swanage & Wareham seconds in Counties Two Tribute Dorset & Wilts South.

From the start the Blues showed their intentions, rapidly moving the ball out wide before recycling.

Guy Wyndham, bursting through, was held up short and Jude Appleton-Trent was on hand to pick up and score the first of his three tries before coming off before half-time with a hamstring strain.

In between the Blues forwards and backs breaking the Swans’ line almost at will, Dave Cutting sprinted clear for a score.

Tom Gamwell scored after the Blues bought loose ball back into the Swans 22 from a weaving run by Jack Pellow forcing them to concede a 25-metre drop out.

Pellow again broke the defensive line, setting up a ruck from which Gamwell took the offload to score.

From the kick-off Daragh Mcoughlin broke into the Swans half and the ball went wide for Sam Petchey to score.

Appleton-Trent’s third try was followed by three more before half-time as the Blues completely dominated.

The forwards were driving through the Swans defence and setting up excellent recycled ball, allowing the Blues’ half backs of Cutting and Charlie Samways to spin the ball out through safe hands for Greening to score.

Mcoughlin and Hugh Vivian showed their power as they shredded the defence for their scores to give a half-time score of 59-0.

Despite losing three forwards in the first half and having Pellow and Corben Newman as flankers there was no let up as the Blues maintained their first half momentum in search of further scores.

Swans knocked on from the kick-off and from the resulting scrum, Waters ran through to score under the posts.

Two more quick tries followed for Cutting and Mcoughlin after great support work by the forwards for Cutting and then with Vivian and Gary England showing excellent hands to put Mcoughlin in.

The try fest continued when the backs whipped the ball down the line to Greening to score in the corner which was converted with his excellent kick.

The kick-off was out on the full and from the scrum the ball was quickly out to Petchey who was forced into touch.

Mcoughlin turned the ball over at the line out and the backs did the rest putting Jordan Neil in the corner.

The Blues were now in search of that three-figure score when first Ben Dobson went over in the corner after great handling and reached it with almost the last play of the game as Waters went in under the posts.

The Blues will face a much sterner test when they play top of the league Weymouth at home on Saturday, November 26.
