A PARKINSON's support group in Bridport has issued an appeal for volunteers.
Parkinson's UK's Bridport and District Support Group is looking for volunteers to give up their time to arrange and support activities.
The group runs a variety of activities which include regular meetings and coffee outings.
The volunteer roles that need to be filled are for a Support Group Coordinator and Support Group Helpers.
The roles are flexible and will have a major impact on people - ensuring that those with Parkinson's can access activities that will make a real difference to them.
Volunteers will be helping activities run smoothly which may include setting up and clearing up at group meetings, serving refreshments, and handling registrations and raffles.
Josie Taylor, Network Support Officer, Parkinson’s UK said: “The Bridport and District Support Group is a lifeline for people in the local area who are living with Parkinson’s, but we rely on volunteers to help us keep these groups running.
"Without the support from people like you, these groups could be forced to close.”
“If you can spare anything from a few hours a month we’d love to welcome you to volunteer alongside the amazing people who are part of the Bridport and District Group - because with your support we really can change lives.
“As well as making a big difference to people living with Parkinson’s in your local community, volunteering is a great opportunity to try something new, have new experiences, and meet new people. ”
Around 145,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with Parkinson’s, including around 1,270 people in Dorset.
The Bridport and District Parkinson’s UK group meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month from 2 pm at St Swithun's Church Hall, North Allington, Bridport, DT6 5DU.
