THE Met Office has warned of 20mm of rain within an hour this evening as Dorset braces for another weather warning.
The county, as well as many others across the southwest of England and much of Wales, is subject to the yellow weather warning for rain and wind.
There is also a possibility of hail and even lightning in some places.
The alert will begin from 6 pm on Monday evening and will be in place until 11:59 pm according to the Met Office.
A Met Office spokesperson said: "A band of rain and gusty winds will move east during Monday evening.
"For most this will simply be a period of normal, unpleasant autumn conditions.
"However, for some, a short period of very heavy rain and very strong winds is possible bringing gusts of 50-60 mph temporarily and perhaps 70 mph on some exposed coasts as well as 20mm of rain within an hour.
"There is also a chance of hail and lightning in a few places as an additional hazard."
The service added:
- Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
- Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
- Spray and temporary flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
- Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges are likely
- Some short-term loss of power and other services is possible
