DORSET Council has announced the revised collection days for refuse and recycling over the Christmas Period.
Usual collection services will be delayed by a day from December 26 until December 30.
For example rubbish collection on Monday, December 26 will now be taken on Tuesday, December 27 etc. This will remain in place throughout the week until normal service resumes on Monday, January 2.
You keep track of what bin needs to be put out when by visiting dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/check-your-bin-day.
The council will collect up to two extra sacks of rubbish on the first rubbish collection after Christmas Day.
From Christmas Eve until January 9 there will be no garden waste collections. Household recycling collection centres will be open from 9am-4pm except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
The removal service will collect extra recycling on the relevant collection day as long as it is placed in a sturdy container that can be easily lifted by one person.
The council reminded people of what can and can't be recycled. Stating that wrapping paper (not foil or glittery paper, please) cardboard boxes and recyclable packaging (not polystyrene), Christmas cards (not glittery) and envelopes are all suitable to be recycled but cooked or uncooked food must be disposed of in a waste bin.
They will not be accepting Christmas trees with rubbish or recycling collections but they can be recycled by home composting it, cutting it up and placing it in your garden waste bin, taking it to a household recycling centre or booking a Christmas tree collection with a Dorset-based charity.
