BRIDPORT Reserves are on the verge of naming their new manager, former boss Chris Herbst has revealed.

An announcement could be made either today or tomorrow by the Dorset Premier League side.

The Bees’ second string have been without a permanent manager since Herbst took the role two weeks ago.

However, Herbst took the team for their 2-0 loss to Westland on Tuesday evening, when Dan Ewens and Jamie Green goals sealed the points.

Speaking to the Bridport News, Herbst said: “I’m going name someone either (today) or Friday.

“I’m not going to name anyone until I’ve told everyone that they’re successful or unsuccessful.

“I’ve been doing both (teams) and it would be nice for me to relax because it’s quite manic looking after 35 players.

“I want to pick the right person for the club and it will be a person that sees my vision. His aim will be to get players into the first team and not make it separate.

“There’s a much better vibe around the club, so I’m happy.”

On the Westland game, he said: “We matched Westland but we conceded two sloppy goals from corners and it was our own fault. No-one picked up a runner and that was it.

“It’s so frustrating because Westland are flying. They’re a good side and we matched them. It was a tough one to take because we played so well.”

Bridport Reserves next play on Tuesday evening at home to Wimborne Town Reserves (7.45pm).

The Bees currently occupy 15th of the 18 teams.
