AN ABBOTSBURY tea room has celebrated winning an award for the fourth year running.
The Old Schoolhouse tea room in the village won the Travellers Choice Award for the fourth year in a row.
It has been managed by Sandra Boyles and Steve Beer since December 2018 and boasts a four-and-a-half out of five-star rating on TripAdvisor.
Upon winning the award, Sandra said: “The thing people like here is we make everything ourselves.
“We have our own china. It’s like stepping back in time. It is our biggest selling point that we use the vintage china.
"I make everything, the cakes, the biscuits that go with coffee, we keep it fresh and that is what people like.
“We have amazing people come here from all over the world. We have had some lovely people and lovely servers."
After confirming that the go-to method of eating a cream tea is jam first - controversial to some - Sandra paid tribute to the supportive nature of other businesses in the village: “As a village, there is an amazing community here.
"We had such a fantastic welcome when we came.
“We are part of the community. It is not a competitive environment, we all help each other. It works so nicely.”
