THE money has been counted and the final figures verified - Bridport Fire Station raised more than £3,000 from their their open day.
The total - £3,024.45 - was a record smashing amount and included £940 raised by the Firefighters Charity shop.
The Firefighters Charity, which the open day supports, helps around 5,000 fire service personnel each year.
Bridport Fire Station hosted the open day earlier this month for the first time since the pandemic and plenty of people came out to support the day.
There was a wide range of activities, including road traffic collision demonstrations, fire engine tours, an abseiling display from the Coastguard, face painting and other activities for children – including a teddy bear zip line.
It didn't distract from their firefighting duties, however, with the road traffic collision demonstration pencilled in for midday being scuppered by a call-out that the crew had to attend.
Crews from Dorset Police and West Bay Coastguard Rescue Team showed support on the day and helped engage with the community about the role they play in emergency responses.
A spokesperson for Bridport Fire Station said: "We’ve had the final count for our open day and thanks to everyone’s amazing generosity we made a whopping £2,084.45 and on top of that The Fire Fighters Charity shop took £940 on the day.
"That is amazing and the most we have taken since holding our open days. Thank you."
At the time of the event, the spokesperson said: "What an amazing day. As soon as the doors opened people were ready to come in to have a look and to enjoy some of the activities we had and it didn’t stop all day.
"Thank you to Dorset Police and West Bay Coastguard Rescue Team for coming down and supporting us (and) to the wives and partners who helped out and, to be fair, ran the show behind the scenes.
"And a HUGE thank you from all of us Bridport Fire Station to everyone that came down to help us raise money for The Firefighters Charity - without your support it wouldn’t be possible."
