IMPROVEMENTS are being made at a care home in Lyme Regis previously declared 'inadequate' by the Care Quality Commission.
Lyme Regis Nursing Home, on Pound Road, was previously given a safety order by the fire service - giving them three months to make improvements.
Six breaches of legal requirements had been identified in the CQC's previous inspection - prompting a follow-up.
That inspection, in February and March this year, found that "people lived in a home where risks were not effectively or sufficiently managed and this placed them at risk of harm or injury."
The latest report, published on August 30, covers two visits in June and July and said the home had begun to make improvements.
The nursing home, which looks after up to 27 residents, had been visited by a fire safety officer in June - who confirmed the appropriate work had been completed to meet the Fire Safety Order.
Improvements were identified in the development of person-centred care plans with relatives being involved in the process. An additional support tool, 'this is me', had been introduced to promote a more person-centred approach to care and
One relative told the CQC: "I have recently read (loved one's) care plan and can honestly say that this truly reflects the high level of care and attention which (they) have received"
The CQC noted that the number of staff employed at the nursing home had increased and that "there was a calm atmosphere within the service".
As a result of the improvements, the CQC moved Lyme Regis Nursing Home from 'inadequate' to 'requires improvement'.
The report concluded: "Although the provider had made improvements at the service since our last inspection, not enough time had passed for the changes to be embedded at the service during this inspection.
"This was because the provider has been unable to ensure sustained compliance with regulations over time. Previous inspections in 2016, 2019 and 2022 found breaches of regulations and improvements were required.
"The Care Quality Commission (CQC) need to be assured going forward the provider's quality monitoring systems and oversight will continue, and effectively identify concerns."
