BRIDPORT’S Edgar Marcu will seek goalkeeping reinforcements before the weekend, the Romanian coach has confirmed.
Bridport were beaten 5-0 by Cullompton Rangers on Tuesday night but young stand-in keeper Kian Wootton appeared to struggle with four of the goals.
First-choice custodian Callum Smalley is expected to be out until 2023 with a serious knee injury and was seen at St Mary’s Field on crutches during the Cullompton game.
And Marcu will consequently look to bolster his goalkeeping options before hosting Bovey Tracey in the South West Peninsula League Premier East on Saturday (3pm).

He told the Bridport News: “It’s tough, we have to look at the goalkeeper we have.
“I do believe if we had a more experienced goalkeeper we could win the game.
“Kian is a lovely lad, he has been out for a year and he is doing his best but Callum is out for seven months.
“There are loads of things to improve. We will go out for a goalkeeper, I’m going to do my best.”
Looking to Bovey Tracey, Marcu said: “We still have things to work on, to become a better team in possession in the final third.
“We still don’t have the composure, it’s still early days but I do believe in these boys.
“We have to stick together as a team and then grow.”
