ONE of the last things you expect to happen on your trip down to the seaside is being subject to a robbery – especially if the thief is a seagull and the beloved item stolen is a delicious ice cream.
This is exactly what happened to Maisie Temple from Surrey who took a day off work during the warm weather to visit West Bay.
And amazingly, she managed to capture the exact moment on camera the winged offender swooped in on the goods.
Maisie said: “I specifically went to get ice cream and had been bragging to all my friends who were working.
“I went to take a picture of my ice cream to send to them and the seagull landed and nicked the first scoop which I didn’t realise I caught on camera until I saw the picture.”
The 28-year-old ordered a double scoop of salted caramel and elderflower sorbet in a cone from Baboo Gelato where she has visited a couple of times previously.
The thieving gull took off with her salted caramel scoop, leaving her with one singular scoop of the elderflower which Maisie described as ‘phenomenal.’
She added: “Sharing is caring, but I’ll be back to get my salted caramel fix soon. Hopefully all for myself this time and I hope it doesn’t happen to anyone else.”
