Heavy traffic which saw significant delays for motorists on the A35 was caused by a broken down vehicle.
At its peak traffic was heavy along the A35 from Morcombelake back towards the A3052 turn-off near Charmouth with approximately 15 minute delays.
It was initially reported yesterday, by travel monitoring service INRIX, that the delays were due to a crash between Tizard's Knap and Berne Lane.
Dorset Police, however, has said congestion was the result of a broken down vehicle towing a caravan.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We were called at 10.19am on Monday 29 August 2022 to a report of broken down vehicle towing a caravan on eastbound carriageway of the A35 at Morcombelake.
"It was reported that the road was blocked.
"Officers attended to assist and put out signage as recovery was arranged."
