FIREFIGHTERS from Bridport Fire Station are holding an open day for the first time in two years.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 3, from 10am to 4pm, offering fun, entertainment, and advice for all ages.

Bridport’s firefighters say they are excited to finally be able to welcome the local community back onto the fire station on Sea Road South and are encouraging everyone to come along for a fun filled day, a look around the station, fire appliances and learn about home, fire, and road safety.

The event will involve a wide range of activities, including road traffic collision demonstrations, fire engine tours, an abseiling display from the Coastguard, face painting and other activities for children – including a teddy bear zip line.

The station will also be holding two tombolas – one for the adults, and one for the children. Anyone wanting to donate a prize is asked to contact Bridport through their Facebook page and drop into the station on Wednesday, August 31, between 7pm and 9pm or Bridport Car Repair Centre Monday to Friday between 9am and 9pm.

Crew Manager Chris Hobby said: “It's been over two years since we've had an open day due to Covid 19, so we’re thrilled to be able to invite the public back onto the station once again. These events are wonderful – they give us the chance to engage with our local community and other emergency services whilst having a bit of fun and raising money for the Fire Fighters Charity. We hope to see as many people involved as possible!”
