BRIDPORT Town Mayor Ian Bark helped officially unveil a vibrant new look for the Bridport Multi Use Games Area (MUGA), better known as 'The Cage'.
The new surface, located next to Bridport FC's St Mary's Field stadium, features bright pink, blue and purple colours.
Bridport Evolution Basketball Club and Bridport Town Council partnered together to give the MUGA a fresh renovation to encourage younger people to play outdoors and pick up a basketball.
Evolution held a competition for all its junior members last year to design a layout and colour scheme for The Cage refurbishment and junior member Jayden Brook won the competition with his bright colours and original design.
With support from Daryl Chambers at Bridport Town Council throughout the project, Bridport Basketball Club members Craig and Kate Sorrell, Emily Carr and Neil Gray all got to work, giving the floor a fresh design along with upgrading the floodlights with LEDs.
The cage walls above the basketball backboards have also been extended to prevent the balls going into the car park areas.
Mayor Bark unlocked the doors and afterwards a mini tournament took place between local players from around Dorset of all ages.
Bridport Evolution Basketball Club owner Craig Sorrell said: "Basketball is all about building the community and opportunities for all ages and backgrounds. That is certainly being reflected here.
"It’s great to see it finally open and being enjoyed by all."
