BOSS Edgar Marcu says Bridport are aiming to take “another step forward” when they host Crediton United at St Mary’s Field on Saturday (3pm).
Marcu’s men secured their first point of the South West Peninsula League Premier East season on Tuesday, drawing 0-0 with Honiton Town after Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Ivybridge.
Bridport’s draw also provided the Bees with their first clean sheet in 48 games, stretching back to September 2020 and a 2-0 win over Bridgwater.
And now Marcu, who serves the final game of a three-match ban picked up for a red card at Tavistock last season, is looking to build on the performance against Honiton.

He told the Bridport News: “We’ll go for all three points but we’ll have to give it our best.
“Last fixture we lost, now we drew so it’s a step forward. I’m expecting now to move another step forward next game.
“I haven’t watched Crediton too much but I’m expecting a positive result.”
He added: “The home games have to be a fortress and have to be our starting point.
“Obviously, away games we’ll try to take it game by game and get the maximum possible.
“But it’s a massive improvement if you look at last season where we concede six, seven, eight or nine goals a game.
“Now we’ve conceded just one goal in two games. It’s a massive difference so it means we’re doing the right things. Obviously it takes time.”
Matheus Oliveira, Mo Hereka and Lewis Howe all return for Bridport.
