A ‘BEST of British’ themed event in Dorchester is set to raise funds for two charities.
Dorchester Agricultural Society’s annual Charity Night will take place on Wednesday, August 31.
Each year, in the week leading up to the Dorset County Show, the society hosts an event to raise funds for DAS-backed charities.
This year proceeds from the Best of British showcase will go towards the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) and the Farmer’s Crisis Network (FCN). Both provide essential support during time of significant challenges.
The theme of the charity night is ‘Best of British’, with a prize given to the best dressed table. Entertainment will be provided by local musician Ben Waters and his band, with guests invited to bring a picnic or enjoy a luxury picnic supper, available to order in advance from Rebecca Green Catering.
Nicki Ralph, Chair of the Dorchester Agricultural Society, commented: “We are delighted to host this year’s Charity Night following the enforced two-year break, and we want to thank the community for taking part in our Society and fundraising events throughout 2022.
“Our charity night is always a fun and lively event, with great music and good food, bringing the whole community together ahead of the Dorset County Show.
“The Society works hard to give back to the farming community in many ways, including by financial support through our charitable donations and providing a platform for exhibitors and traders at our events throughout the year.”
It will be held in the Members' Pavilion at Dorchester Showground.
The Society is also arranging a programme of other events including the Spring Show, Dorset Tractor Run, Sheep Dog Trials and Ploughing Match - providing more opportunities to raise valuable funds.
Tickets for the Charity Night are available now and can be purchased through the Dorset County Show office. Tables are available for 8 to 10 people, alternatively tickets can be bought individually at £25 per person.
To book please contact the Show Office via info@dorsetcountyshow.co.uk or call 01305 264249.
The Dorset County Show returns on September 3 and 4 at the Dorchester Showground at Cokers Frome.
