West Bay descended into chaos and hilarity last night with the return of the much-loved raft race.
Organised by Bridport RNLI in aid of the charity, the event drew large crowds to the River Brit.
Local business came together to thrash it out in the water, paddling as fast as they could part way up the river and back again in rafts they built themselves.
There was extra enthusiasm from spectators this year as it was the first race since the pandemic began, with events being called off since.
Organiser Annie Taylor said: "It was brilliant. There was so much enthusiasm. I want to say a big 'thank you' to everybody."
First home was Fun Seeker by Zack Watts and runner-up was Paddletastic by Bay Paddleboarding
Best dressed was team Wren, made up of Wren's Nursey, and most entertaining was Up Brit Creek Without a Paddle by Lyme Bay Rib.
Top sponsorship was Broken the Seal by Oscar's Wine Bar.
Bridport Mayor Ian Bark said: "This was a wonderful occasion and absolutely amazing to have it back after two years. There was more enthusiasm than ever, people really got into the entertainment with water fights on the river. Local and holidaymakers were mixing having a great time together. This really was another great event for the eventful town."
Organisers are tallying up yesterday's donations and all proceeds go to the RNLI.
RNLI volunteer Sadie Miles said: “Fundraising is so important for us and it really means a lot to get that support."
