A BONFIRE was left unattended despite multiple safety warnings during the current bout of hot weather.
Bridport firefighters were called to a fire in the open on the A35 east towards Dorchester shortly before midday yesterday.
On arrival crews found an unattended bonfire, and used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
A spokesman for the fire service said: "Although the sun has gone in and the temperatures have dropped, the risk of fires spreading remains significantly high. Never leave a bonfire unattended and always have safety measures in place should the fire go out of control."
