OFFICERS from across Dorset Police have had a busy few days of community engagement events.
A number of school fetes took place in the region on Friday and officers from Dorchester Police attended Damers School to chat to the school pupils and increase their confidence in approaching police officers.
PCSOs Jane and Ali attended the summer fete and were kept on their toes as the children took it in turns to “clamber in and out” of the police car.
A spokesperson for Dorchester Police said: “It is important that children know that if they ever need help they can approach police officers.
“We enjoyed meeting lots of families and hopefully gave many children the confidence to speak to an officer.”
East Dorset’s Neighbourhood Policing Team were in attendance at Wimborne First School and Hayeswood First School’s summer fete. One local resident said trying on the policeman’s hat and sitting in the police car had made their grandson’s day.
Weymouth & Portland Police were out at the scooter rally at Weymouth Rugby Club - the first time the national scooter rally has been held in Weymouth for nearly 40 years.
Hundreds of visitors attended the event and PCSOs Sonny and Diniro enjoyed the “very friendly atmosphere” and got the opportunity to see “some amazing scooters”.
