LIFEBOAT WEEK in Lyme Regis will culminate with “an exciting day of musical activity” to help raise funds for the RNLI.
The event will take place at St Michael’s Parish Church and will feature a combined choir of around 50 singers.
Led by Lyme Bay Chorale, the group will include young choristers from Salisbury Cathedral as well as a range of experienced singers. They’ll be guided by, choral director, Richard Tanner who is a previous chorister at St Paul’s Cathedral.
The free concert starts at 6pm on Saturday, July 30 - the last day of Lifeboat Week - and is expected to last about an hour.
Among the medley of feel-good songs will be maritime-themed tunes, music from local composer Andrew Millington, as well as more classical items from Mozart and Parry.
A pub landlord who has gone above and beyond to help Ukraine since the Russian invasion will be opening this year’s Lifeboat Week.
Tom Littledyke, who runs the Shave Cross Cellar bar and Antonio’s Italian taverna in Lyme Regis, will kick things off at a ceremony at 1.30pm on Saturday, July 23 outside Lyme Regis lifeboat station.
He said: “I am a great admirer of the work the volunteers of the RNLI do and the amazing amounts donated since the 1970s during the very successful lifeboat weeks held in Lyme Regis’ said Tom. ‘I am looking forward to my involvement this year.”
