A talk for those interested in treasure hunting and recording their finds will be held this weekend.
The talk by the finds liaison officer for the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) in Dorset, Ciorstaidh Hayward-Trevarthen will be held at the Shire Hall Museum in Dorchester and is about the PAS and the Treasure Act. It will be held on Saturday, July 16 at 2pm as part of National Archaeology Month and tickets are £6.
The talk will cover the background of the PAS, the definition of Treasure, will illustrate the range of material recorded, and introduce the PAS database.
A spokesperson said: "Every year thousands of archaeological objects are discovered, mainly by metal detector users, but also by people gardening, out walking or going about their daily work.
"The finds liaison officer for the Portable Antiquities Scheme in Dorset aims to encourage the recording of these finds and the reporting of Treasure."
