TWO fire crews raced to a school after reports of a large vehicle fire.
Two crews from Bridport Fire Station were called to St Mary's School, in Skilling Hill Road, yesterday morning (Wednesday, July 6) follows concerns from a member of the public.
On arrival, crews found it to be a controlled burn at a nearby builders merchants.
A spokeswoman from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Rescue Service said: "At 11.51am, two pumps mobilised after a concerned member of public believed they could see a large vehicle fire near St Mary's School.
"Thankfully this was just a controlled burn at a nearby builders merchants.
"Details were taken and advice given to the company.
"If you are having a controlled burn, please contact our control room on 0306 799 0019.
"This is particularly important for large fires, fires in built-up areas, or near utility supplies.
"Wherever possible, give us at least an hours notice of starting your burn."
