BRIDPORT have been overlooked for the qualification stages of the FA Cup after the FA published their list of 732 participating clubs.

The development means Bridport, who would have had to enter at the extra-preliminary stage, will miss out on prize money ­– a minimum of £375.

Prize money of £1,125 is on offer for the winners at that stage, while the Bees must also plan for the absence of any potential matchday revenue from a home draw.

In May, new boss Edgar Marcu called the FA Cup a “massive, massive opportunity” in what is a rebuilding season for the Bees.

Bridport were relegated from Step 5 last year and will play in the South West Peninsula League Premier East next season.

Marcu’s men have, however, been accepted for the FA Vase, along with Dorset counterparts Portland United, with the winners of the first qualifying round picking up £550 and the losers £160.

Clubs entering the FA Vase must win a maximum of ten matches to clinch the silverware at Wembley.
