THE Beaminster Festival is recognised for bringing the best music, theatre, art and literature to the town - and organisers are excited to have Connaught Brass performing as part of this year’s event.
They are described as a 'thrilling young quintet' who are quickly making a name for themselves in the chamber music world, having already made their debut at the Lucerne Festival and London’s Wigmore Hall.
The ensemble’s ability to manipulate and unify sound earned them first prize in the inaugural Philip Jones International Brass Ensemble Competition in 2019 and the Royal Overseas League Mixed Ensemble Competition this year.
Beaminster Festival’s Artistic Director Lois Pearson said: “We are thrilled to have Connaught Brass joining us this year. They are fantastic young musicians whose wide range of musical repertoire is bringing brass chamber music to the forefront of today’s musical world.
"For our coffee concert they have devised an entertaining programme including favourites from Porgy and Bess and West Side Story. They are also working with and playing to six local primary schools and Mountfield School during the festival.
Connaught Brass will be playing in St Mary’s Church, Beaminster on Friday, July 1at 11.30am. Preceded by coffee served from 10.30am and a pre-coffee concert given by musicians from St Mary’s Academy, Beaminster.
