FIRE and rescue services are reminding residents to keep their cars tucked in so they can get to emergencies as quickly as possible.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue are asking ‘are we getting through’? as they reveal their smallest appliances need a minimum of 3m, or the width of two cars, to pass safely.

Poor and inconsiderate parking, even if only for a few minutes, can delay them during an emergency call, and if there is a rapidly developing fire, every second counts.

“We know that parking can be a challenge in a lot of residential streets, but this can also make it difficult - if not impossible - for us to get through in an emergency.

“Always make sure your vehicle is tight to the kerb, wheels straight and mirrors in.”
