Local arts organisation Seafair is back with another online sharing event to be held this evening (Thursday).
After a wonderful evening back in November 2020 raising money for Bridport Refugee Support Campaign, they are now organising Pieces for Peace, this time supporting locally placed refugees from Ukraine.
A spokesman said: "Seafair wants to support newly emerging refugee support groups in Lyme and Bridport who are helping families as soon as they arrive, before bank accounts have been set up and before benefits can be put in place. There is currently a drop-in group for people who opened their homes for Ukrainian refugees, meeting fortnightly at the Black Dog Café in Uplyme and there will be a Bridport group soon that will be meeting at the Friends Meeting House.
"At the latest online fundraising event, artists will present thoughts, pictures, performance, video, poems, music, or stories responding to the refugee crises. Each person will get up to five minutes to present their work (up to 12 presenters) and a maximum of 30 people at the event altogether. Anyone wanting to present something at the event, please let us know when buying the ticket.
"It’s hoped to raise some more money by selling some of the work presented alongside other works offered by artists after the event."
The event is tonight from 7pm-9pm on Zoom. Donations to join the event: £30, £15, £10 or what you wish to pay. Get your ticket at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/what-we-can-do-when-we-cant-do-anything-pieces-for-peace-tickets-322087551537
