BRIDPORT’S battling display proved not enough as they were beaten 3-1 by Cadbury Heath in the Western Premier Division.
Caretaker boss Shaun Annetts’s side did find the net in the first half through Marian Bosnea.
But a double from Cadbury’s Matt Huxley along with a Mohammed Jeng goal saw the hosts emerge victorious at Springfield.
Defeat left Bridport still with just one league success all season, with four points coming from 33 league outings.
Bristol-based Cadbury got off to a flying start when Huxley latched on to a ball forward. He showed superb technique to lift the ball over Josh Lucas and opened the scoring after just four minutes.
But the Bees continued to battle and got their reward 13 minutes later.
With the ball on the right-hand side of the penalty area, Bosnea let fly with a superb strike on the half volley which flew into the top corner.
Huxley went close for the hosts once again before the break, but Cadbury put themselves in the box seat for three points just six minutes from time.
A long ball by home keeper Jordan Schofield found substitute Jeng, who calmly slotted into the far corner.
Jeng then turned provider for the home side late on as his cross was headed in by Huxley to condemn the Bees to another defeat.
Assessing the display, Annetts said: “It was a dramatic improvement on the previous week’s game against Street, where we were very poor.
“The new manager, Edgar (Marcu) wanted to take a bit more of the game, which I was happy to do. He had more of a say than he has done up until now and the performance was really good.
“We put in a good account of ourselves and that was good. The players should take a bit of credit for that performance.”
He added: “We have got three tough games now in Exmouth, Tavistock and Clevedon – we are in for a tough last three games.
“But we will certainly try to do the best that we can in those games.”
