A DRIVER has been fined more than £500 for speeding at 80mph on a stretch of road near Bridport which has a 50mph limit.
Garry John Banks, whose address was given as St Peters Road in Burgess Hill, West Sussex was charged with exceeding a 50mph speed limit on the A35.
The 57-year-old’s case was proved against him using the single justice procedure at Weymouth Magistrates Court on Friday, March 4.
The charge relates to an incident on the A35 at Miles Cross on June 19 last year in which Banks was clocked travelling at 80mph in a 50mph zone.
As a result, the court fined the defendant £553, ordered him to pay a £55 surcharge and costs of £90.
His driving licence was also endorsed with six penalty points.
