To show support for the people of Ukraine following the Russian invasion Bridport's Chapel in the Garden is holding a silent candlelit vigil tonight.
It will be held on Friday, March 4 at 6pm and will be led by the minister, Reverend Elizabeth Harley.
Residents are invited and can ‘stay as long as they are able to’.
Member of the congregation Margie Barbour said: “This will be an opportunity to join in silent prayers for the people of Ukraine, for those who have fled their homes and for those who are staying in Ukraine, in the cities and in the countryside.
“This will be an opportunity to share our grief, for those directly affected, and for all of us whose hearts are broken by seeing war in Europe again. There will be an opportunity to light a candle and say a silent prayer.
“Unitarians in Britain are praying for the refugees, the soldiers, the peacemakers, the families of those who have died, and for all who have lost their lives, for a peaceful resolution to this terrible conflict.”
The Chapel in the Garden will also have a basket to collect money for the ‘Choose Love’ refugee charity.
