DORSET STORM 78
BRIDPORT EVOLUTION 101
BRIDPORT Evolution chalked up a century of points in their last game of Dorset Association Conference A, beating Poole-based Dorset Storm 101-78.
Bridport knew it was going to be a tough game after their first match up only a couple of weeks ago saw them narrowly winning by only 10 points, but Evolution starting strong with a couple of deep three-pointers made by Angus Pudge and Piotr Lason to get the team into the right tempo.
Storm answered back with some good looks under the basket and Bridport’s defence struggled to contain the young team which led to early foul trouble. This gave Storm the chance to take the lead finishing the first quarter 23-22 up.
Evolution came out fighting in the second quarter with some tactical and well converted offensive plays to get back in front.

With Jeff Robertshaw finding his rhythm and driving to the basket, Bridport got back in front to finish the half 48-36.
After some strong words by Dorset Storm’s coach at half-time, the home team were the ones looking stronger and executing their shots from range but Evolution kept it close with huge defensive hustle from Chris Canham and Lason.
In the closing minutes of the third quarter Bridport stepped up once again to take them into the last 10 minutes 71-58 up.
The final quarter was all about consistency and structure for Evolution as Storm started to break down with some mistakes created leading some forced turnovers for Bridport’s Lason and Robertshaw to find some fast break opportunities and get further in front to close the game out to round off 2021 with a victory.
Evolution have now completed the conference with a 6-0 record taking them into Division One in January for the first time.
