BRIDPORT Youth and Community Centre is reminding people that it runs an outreach programme to ensure young people feel safe while out in town on Friday nights.
The operation has been running for several months and sees youth workers go out on Friday evenings, walking around town to meet and chat to young people and keep them safe.
The programme also encourages people to make use of the youth group, which is open every Friday for people aged between 11 and 18. The venue is open during term time and entry is £1.
The centre wrote on Facebook: “One of our main aims is to encourage the young people of Bridport to come to youth club and hang out.
“We understand that youth club is not for everyone, this is why we have started outreach. We are doing this to make the young people of Bridport feel safe on our streets and have our help available to them if they need it.
“We work 7-9pm patrolling the popular areas where our young people hang out, we chat to the young people making sure they are having a good night, keeping safe and staying informed about what's on offer for young people in Bridport.”
