ARTWORK inspired by legendary palaeontologist Mary Anning was created by a group of primary school pupils.
Students at Marshwood Church of England Primary Academy were learning about famous people and places in their history class and decided to take inspiration from Mary Anning to design a large three-dimensional papier mâché ammonite.
Students also took inspiration from artist Darrell Wakelam who provides art workshops and training sessions for primary and secondary schools in Dorset.
The model was created using foil, masking tape, glue and tissue paper and was decorated using paint and glitter.
Mrs Strawbridge, class teacher, found the idea on the Lyme Regis Museum website. She said: "The children are really proud of their creation and it will now be displayed in pride of place in their classroom. The children were fascinated in learning about local legend Mary Anning."
